The current Bethesda Presbyterian Church was built in 1884. The organization at Bethesda was effected at Wilson's Spring in 1821 with fourteen members. The first church was dedicated in 1843. The second and present church in 1876. The first pastor was W.W. Trimble, who served from 1853 to 1865. There were 209 members when W.W. McElwee closed his long pastorate in 1901. Today Bethesda offers Sunday morning worship and fellowship events. The McElwee Memorial Chapel on Oak Hill was dedicated in 1905 and today offers Sunday evening worship & fellowship events.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide a place of Christian worship and support. It is our mission to provide for those in need and to spread the Gospel within our community and the world.

Vision- To constitute a church family that strives to share God’s love and care with its local and worldwide community.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every Sunday we have members who serve as greeters, and will answer your questions when you arrive. Our dress is casual, so come as you are. Our church is more interested in you than what you wear.

As you enter the middle staircase the sanctuary is on the main floor. Sunday school classes are held in the fellowship hall and adjacent classrooms downstairs.

JOIN OUR COMMUNITY

Our congregation shows genuine concern, love and support for our neighbors and friends.  We strive to make our community a better place to live and spread the good news and of the Lord by providing outreach, aid, and networking for those in need.  We do this by being an example, to the best of our ability, of God’s love.  We could not do the things we do without the help and support of people like you.
